Three inmates have been charged with running an extortion call center from Unit 13 Penitentiary in the city of Junín. The investigation revealed that the detainees demanded explicit photos from victims and then threatened to share the content unless a ransom was paid. The probe was launched after two victims reported that men had contacted them on Facebook, initiating conversations where they exchanged explicit images. However, during the exchange, the aggressors threatened the victims and demanded money to prevent the content from being made public. This prompted an investigation by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Crimes Linked to Human Trafficking, Cyber Pedophilia, and Grooming, led by Fernando Graffigna, and the Junín UFI No. 6, led by Fernanda Sánchez. Following initial inquiries, authorities were able to trace IP addresses, cell tower data, device information, IMEI numbers, and the geographical locations of the connections. Based on the evidence gathered, the existence of a 'call center' inside Junín Penitentiary Unit 13 was confirmed, leading to an urgent search warrant. Local media, as reported by the Argentine News Agency, indicated that three inmates were responsible for carrying out the threats and forcing payments.
